About the Surrey Cycle Challenge

You appear to have Javascript switched off. You will have access to more facilities on this site by using a Javascript enabled browser

The Surrey Cycle Challenge is designed to encourage more workers across Surrey to ride their bicycle to work, and it’s really simple to get involved.

To take part, your company has to register first.  Encourage your boss or HR manager to register your company on the challenge website by clicking ‘Register Company’.  All they need to do is enter contact details plus the number of employees at that address.

Once the company registration is approved, your company will receive some literature to promote the challenge to its employees, and you can register as an individual.

Just go to the challenge website, click ‘Register Yourself’ and follow the instructions.  You just need to tell us a few details about yourself and choose a login.

Then, during the two weeks of the challenge, just login and tell us where you’ve cycled on business.

So that could be from home to work.  Or from the office to a meeting.  And back to the office.  And work to home.

Don’t record leisure mileage, as this doesn’t form part of the challenge.

We’ve included a Google map to help you calculate how far you’ve cycled.

During the challenge you’ll be able to see which companies have the highest percentage of employees participating.  You’ll also be able to see how many miles you’ve done personally, your average speed and other information.

Once the event is over we will award the top three companies with the highest percentage of participating employees with awards, plus two randomly chosen individual participants will win special prizes - check out the prizes page for more information.

So, get involved, get registered, and get cycling!

Good luck!

The Surrey Cycle Challenge 2011 is now finished, a huge well done to everyone who took part. You should all be really proud of yourselves!

The winners of this years Cycle Challenge were Stemmer Imaging getting 98% of their colleagues onto bikes!

That chasing pack was lead by Cyclesurgery in Chertsey, who receive the Runner-up 2nd place certificate with 68% of their employees logging journeys, and g3 Baxi coming in 3rd place with 23% of their employees taking part.

Special mentions should got to Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd for getting 60 of their employes onto bikes, and to Steve Kelly at the University of Surrey who managed to rack up over 1000 miles over the two week period!

Steve has since come forward and let us know that he entered his mileage incorrectly, so for all of you who've contacted us about this there's your answer. Well done to Steve anyway for his honesty, he could've claimed Legend-status but chose the path of truth!

Keep on pedalling, you've got a 12 months worth of training for the 2012 Surrey Cycle Challenge ahead of you!
